You should be looking to establish a good routine of weekly tutoring, more if you can afford it. This tutoring should be in math and verbal reasoning mainly, and then English if needed.
It is never too late to start, and once started it does not mean that you have to take the selective school exam if you change your mind. But it will be a little late to start tutoring in October if you decided you would like to give the exam a go.
